FREQUENT QUESTIONS:
Everything you should know about Kompress Therapy Hydrogels:
Q: What exactly is a biocompatible hydrogel?
Biocompatible hydrogel is a material made from a
mixture of water and a polymer that is biologically compatible.
Hydrogels are known for their ability to absorb large amounts of water
and to store without dissolving, or your states of aggregation
change. (It neither freezes in the freezer nor melts in the
Micro/oven)
They consist mostly of water, making them ideal
materials for applications in biomedicine and biotechnology. Thus
are used, for example, for soft contact lenses, implants, baby diapers, or wound dressings
made from hydrogels.
The gels are extremely flexible and shape-retaining. So they return
always return to their original shape after application and expansion.
The gels are neither toxic nor do they cause allergic
Reactions.
F: What material does my skin come into contact with?
The gels are coated with a skin-friendly fabric made from a nylon
and elastane blend. Such fabrics are also used by extreme athletes like
mountaineers, as they are very skin-friendly and breathable, as well as retaining their
shape. So they do not cause pressure points and always keep the gel in the
right place. The fabric is both heat-resistant and freezer-safe.
Q: Can the gels also be warmed without a microwave?
YES, of course. We recommend warming the gel in the oven.
80-100 degrees, and then test after 10 minutes whether the
desired temperature has been reached.
DO NOT warm in a water bath!
Q: How long should I leave the cool or warm gel on the skin?
We recommend an application of 15-20 minutes. The
application can be repeated if necessary, but a break of 30
minutes should be taken between applications.
Q: Could I also use the gel coatings for animals?
That naturally depends on the size of the animal. In principle
an application is certainly recommended, for example, for a horse.
F: How do I clean the AlpenKraft® Kompress Therapy Gel Covers?
On
best wiped with a damp to max. wet cloth without cleaning agents, and
let dry. Do not place in the sun. Please do not put in water or
hold under running water. Otherwise, the gel can absorb additional water
absorb. If the gel is soaked with additional water, this can
Freeze in the freezer compartment and possibly destroy the product.
Q: How long is the product "shelf life"?
The AlpenKraft® Compress Therapy Gel Covers will provide you with years of enjoyment when stored and used correctly. Hydrogels do not deform or decompose under extreme temperature differences, and always spring
back to their original shape. So there is no "stretching out".
Q: How do you understand the size chart?
The gels are extremely stretchable due to the material.
Therefore, it is advisable to order one size smaller,
so that the compress fits snugly.
An average slim man with 177cm height and
78kg weight uses the following sizes:
S stocking for:
Foot-ankle, elbow, and forearm.
(Body part circumference approx. 21-26cm)
M stocking for:
Knee, lower leg, upper arm, and shoulder
(Body part circumference approx. 24-32cm)
L stocking for:
Thigh.
(Body part circumference approx. 32-42cm)
Q: What happens if the product is damaged?
Although the gels are completely harmless, we recommend
disposing of damaged products in household waste
F: How should I store the gels?
The special packaging is resealable and freezer-safe.
Best stored in the packaging. If there is space in the refrigerator or
freezer, the gel can also be stored there without concern, provided it is in the
packaging. Otherwise, keep in a dry place.
F: Can I cool my prosecco bottle with it? :-)
I personally find this application the most practical. Take the S stocking for this, it fits perfectly;-) Gel in the freezer for one hour and enjoy ice-cold Prosecco for two hours. (If the contents last that long:-)) Have fun.
